On Facebook, users can now choose a new avatar-specific publishing option to make an entire post dedicated to their virtual persona. Meta has also included the additional Instagram avatar use options as well as WhatsApp’s 3D avatars. The new choices add to Meta’s previous avatar-related improvements, which have included new 3D character designs, sponsored avatar products, themed outfits for virtual representation, and more. Also, social media guru Matt Navarra posted pictures of the new avatar creation process.

Meta’s essentially normalising this as a representative option by forging closer ties with the user’s virtual persona. Each usage brings these users closer to their digital representation. Snapchat is now looking to use that as a means of selling digital clothing for your character, new products and designs to enhance personalisation, and to further connect users to their Bitmoji. Although Meta is still far from that degree of connection, it is currently pursuing a similar strategy in an effort to strengthen user connections to their avatar representations, which may subsequently be seamlessly included in the metaverse experience. The possibilities are expanding as Meta tries to emphasise avatar usage more.
