Metajuice, a metaverse platform, discovered that nearly three-quarters of nonfungible token (NFT) collectors on its site buy NFTs for status, uniqueness, and aesthetics. According to the poll results, the top motivations for NFT purchases were standing out and wearing the NFTs as their avatar, and 74% of respondents stated that they were interested in them for the status that they provided. 13 percent of poll respondents claimed they were purchasing NFTs to resell in the future. Metaverse president John Burris believes that possessing NFTs would create a “community idea of status-led trends” in the metaverse and that owning large collections such as CryptoPunks and Bored Ape Yacht Club has already become a status signal inside the crypto realm.
