MetroPlusHealth, New York City’s affordable health plan and insurer, announces free dietician visits to eligible families and City workers amid increasing prices of healthy food. This privilege will be enjoyed by City workers who are enrolled in their Gold Plan and will receive diet-related guidance as well as 26 dieticians’ visits per year. With this initiative, MetroPlusHealth becomes the country’s first commercial insurance provider to offer free-of-cost dietician visits. Currently, this programme is limited to the Gold Plan members, i.e., individuals dealing with chronic diseases such as diabetes and hypertension. A personalised nutrition plan is essential for people suffering from these health issues as proper nutrition reduces risks attached with chronic conditions.
