Microrobots that have the capacity to deliver drug, retrieve samples, and disrupt biofilm within the space of a root canal have been developed by researchers at the University of Pennsylvania. During the procedure of root canal, it becomes difficult for dentists to determine whether or not the debris has been completely eradicated, which can lead to the reoccurrence of infection. Because the restricted space of the root canal is difficult to access, the researchers have created microrobots that can enter and deliver drugs to the targeted site. These robots are deployed as a swarm and can help fight the residue of infectious materials.
