Becton, Dickinson and Company (BD) has introduced the third-generation BD Kiestra Total Lab Automation System for microbiology labs. The third-generation robotic track system is intended to fulfil the changing needs of laboratories. From regular inoculation operations to sophisticated incubation, imaging, and colony selection, workflow can be fully automated. Through integrated processes and on-demand analytics, the solution will help boost laboratory efficiency. “The track-based configuration choices are meant to remove manual sorting of plates and walking the specimen from module to module, which helps to preserve culture integrity and results in quicker processes,” said Cecilia Soriano, vice president and general manager at BD Microbiology.
