Aldi has partnered with Israel-based computer vision startup Trigo to pilot frictionless checkout technology. The retailer is testing the system for a new grocery store, which will be launched in Utrecht, the Netherlands in early 2022. The German supermarket chain will let consumers use a QR code to identify themselves upon entry and exit. Trigo will install AI and cameras to track products and shoppers’ activity in the grocery outlet. With this partnership, Trigo gets a chance to access the Dutch grocery market.
