A Belgian lunch chain Exki with smart refrigerators is about to roll out its vending machines to offer healthy, ready-to-eat meals to customers. The automated fridge-like vending machine works on RFID technology. Customers can swipe their card or scan a QR code through its app to open the fridge and grab healthy food while working or travelling. CEO Nicolas Morlet revealed that the digitised fridge, made in Italy, is already installed in a hospital in Brussels. The startup has soft-launched its fridge in various European countries, including Brussels, Antwerp, Paris, the Ile-de-France region, and Luxembourg. Next month, the startup will be debuting its offerings at the RetailDetail Omnichannel & E-Commerce Congress happening in Antwerp.
