Earlier, Ekoplaza, a Dutch organic food supermarket, had acquired a Belgian organic retailer Origin’O. Recently, the grocer has teamed up with Färm, a Brussels-based retailer, to reach French-speaking Belgian consumers. Ekoplaza plans to launch one hundred stores – fourteen of which are in Belgium, after the acquisition and merger. Färm founders Alexis Descampe and Lionel Wauters detailed that this merger will solidify and further expand the organic market in Belgium. The market faced a lot of obstacles after the onset of the pandemic. The partner firms will together overcome the hurdles related to the IT, logistics and product range categories.
