Mara, a São Paulo-based digital grocery startup founded by Danilo Mansano and Ariel Lambrecht, aims to reach untapped regions of Latin America with wholesale prices of grocery items. The Brazilian startup has raised $6 million in a funding round led by Canary and Caffeinated Capital. The founders came up with the startup to offer discounted grocery essentials to Brazilian customers, mostly having low incomes. The online business model offers free next-day delivery from a curbside pickup point closer to the customer’s house. Another convenient feature of this startup is shopping via its website without downloading an app. Mara also provides Cash on Delivery option to shoppers as most of them don’t use digital payment methods.
