Instant delivery firms in the US are facing a considerable amount of pressure to keep their finances running. Last week, Buyk and Fridge No More have shut their businesses and gifted their perishable food inventory to their employees. In other news, Getir has raised $768M in a Series E round, raising its valuation to $11.8B last week. Van Wickel, senior director of digital commerce at Kantar, reported that giant delivery firms, including DoorDash, GoPuff and Instacart, are fighting over market share and will continue to emerge as market players. Van Wickle also suggests that instant delivery firms should expand and diversify their business models to come out of the surviving phase and consolidate their presence in the market.
