Wakefern, the largest grocery retail cooperative in America, is in the process of piloting shelf-scanning robots from Simbe Robotics. The grocer is making this move to automate its inventory management process. Simbe reported that the Tally robot automatically wanders and navigates the aisles at Wakefern stores to scan thousands of products on shelves. Simbe also added that the bot can scan up to 15,000 to 30,000 products per hour, and its shelf audit yields 99% accuracy. The bots are capable of covering the entire floor up to three times daily. The bots have computer vision technology to check the in-stock status and ensure the right placement of the products.
