The FedEx initiative will accept unboxed, unlabeled returns, consolidate them, and return them to retailers. FedEx Consolidated Returns allows customers to deliver returned products with a QR code to any of the 2,000 FedEx Office locations, the company’s storefront retail division. FedEx will aggregate and process volumes of returns from numerous businesses at one site.

The returns will then be transported to their original destinations using less-than-truckload services. The new service concept “no-box, no-label” is being pushed to retailers as a low-cost return option. Consumers in the United States are increasingly accepting in-person returns without a box or label. Amazon.com Inc. has provided a comparable service with retail partners such as Kohl’s for many years.
