Kimberly-Clark, the consumer goods company behind brands including Kleenex and Huggies, has reduced daily variability by 40% by using an AI-enabled tool to improve distribution planning and deployment. The platform, developed by ProvisionAI, automates the process and provides recommendations that the company can execute more efficiently, thereby reducing supply chain variability. Kimberly-Clark, which was struggling with order bunching caused by lighter weekend workloads and spikes early in the week, increased end-to-end supply chain visibility to identify inefficiencies in its planning systems for stock allocation and distribution. The tool has enabled the company to improve on-time delivery, customer service performance and reduce North American distribution costs by several million dollars. Kimberly-Clark is continuing to invest in end-to-end supply chain digitisation, including the use of digital procurement methodologies and supplier visibility methodologies.
