After piloting a number of automated tech solutions, restaurant chains, like Taco Bell, are now thinking about deploying dumbwaiters, an elevator that serves drinks and different meals to consumers within building premises. Taco Bell is adding dumbwaiters as an integral part of their restaurant for the future and plans to expand the number of drive-thru lanes to offer prompt service to customers. The deployment of dumbwaiters doesn’t mean that human employees will no longer be needed. Drive-thru workers would interact with consumers through video and audio intercom. Customers can also order from the mobile app and scan a QR code. Taco Bell is partnering with Defy Technologies to build the new tech dumbwaiters.
