According to Adam Harris, the head of Twitch’s brand partnership studio globally, VTubing content grew 467% year over year in 2017. Vtubing is a streamers’ ability to make their own 2D or 3D model (or have one made for them) controlling them through motion technology and combine it with a streaming application like OBS. The popularity of Vtubers in Asia, where the concept first emerged with the release of Kizuna AI in 2016, has inspired companies to target those viewers. With 71 active streamer profiles and over 64 million YouTube subscribers, Hololive is the most well-known group. With over 4 million subscribers, Gawr Gura, a VTuber from its English-language side, is the most popular VTuber globally.
