After Walmart, Giant Food takes its sustainability efforts seriously and automates its delivery fleet. The grocer has teamed up with Motiv Power Systems to use two fully electric vehicles and add them to its fleet of 128 delivery vehicles. Over the next few years, Giant Food will add more electric delivery trucks and fully automate its supply chain network. As per the press release, these electric vehicles can travel up to 105 miles on a single charge. The electric fleet helps the retailer offer faster delivery and saves time as it no longer needs to stop at petrol stations for fuel stops. The electric fleet is extremely environmentally friendly as it displaces over 210,000 petroleum gallons and reduces greenhouse gas emissions by 63% during its lifetime.
