The Consumer Brands Association and The Recycling Partnership have joined forces to address consumer confusion surrounding recycling instructions. Through Consumer Brands’ digital QR code platform, SmartLabel, consumers can now access localised recycling guidance directly on product packaging. By scanning the QR code on products, consumers can enter their zip code or grant location access to receive accurate recycling information for their area. This initiative aims to streamline the complex landscape of nearly 10,000 local recycling programmes across the US, combating the 63 percent of consumers who still find recycling labels confusing. The partnership aims to enhance recycling clarity and reduce waste by aligning consumer efforts with specific recycling rules. This innovative approach intends to contribute positively to national recycling rates.
