The modelling agency Photogenics in Los Angeles is introducing an avatar division. Avatars serve as the models’ “alternate egos” in the metaverse and are based on the ones who are currently under contract with the agency. There are 13 models on the list right now, and more are being planned. Avatar models are licenced out by brands for a set amount of time. They want to create personas for their models that reflect their “real-life selves” and convey their values. Brands have already collaborated with fictional and real-life celebrity avatars to wear their clothing. The most well-known virtual influencer is probably Lil Miquela, who has worked with companies like Calvin Klein and Gucci. The organisation aspires to include a wider range of body types and sizes in the future, along with exploring more partnerships in the virtual world.
