In Malaysia, agricultural firm Top Fruits Plantations has introduced high-tech drones to shower pesticides, sensors noting soil readings, and introduce sprinklers that splash fertilizer. These high-tech solutions would enhance the growth of fresh produce, especially the durian fruit, as the demand increases in the Southeast Asian region. the managing director Tan Sue Sian detailed that it has significantly improved the crops and quality of fresh produce. The managing director gave a tour of the company’s plantation farms in Batu Pahat, southern Johor state. By 2024, the firm plans to deploy drones and sensors all around the farms. With drones, Top Fruits Plantations is now capable of producing 800 tons of durians from its farms every year. Over 80% of its crops are frozen in factories to be exported overseas, much of it to China.
