Wilson Sporting Goods is set to launch its inaugural 3D-printed basketball, the Wilson Airless Gen1, on Feb. 16. Priced at $2,500, this limited-edition ball requires no air inflation and comes in brown, white, and black colour options, each bearing a unique production number. The product will debut at the NBA Crossover event in Indianapolis from Feb. 16 to Feb. 18. Building upon Wilson’s airless basketball prototype, the Airless Gen1 boasts performance enhancements and a more efficient manufacturing process. Kevin Murphy, Wilson’s Team Sports general manager, sees this innovation as groundbreaking, aiming to inspire future sports advancements. This release coincides with Wilson’s parent company, Amer Sports, going public and signifies Wilson’s commitment to growth, including expanding its brick-and-mortar presence as part of a direct-to-community strategy.
