The memory networks in the brain’s hippocampus, a cashew-shaped structure that stores sensory and emotional data vital for creating and retrieving memories, are of particular interest to Ramirez’s team. The team is trying to differentiate between positive and negative memories, which will help them rewire the negative memories. Currently, the research has been conducted over rodents. However, researchers are hopeful that this theory will assist them in uncovering solutions for brain-related disorders.
