The Wall Street Journal reported that Amazon will launch a department store, mainly selling clothes, in 2022. Amazon’s futuristic trial rooms will have robots, touchscreens and QR codes to order more dresses to try on. Shoppers would scan QR codes with their smartphones to try and purchase apparel. Amazon’s US department store will be 30,000 square feet, smaller than the usual department stores. Shoppers can buy Amazon’s own-labelled clothing line along with other brands.
