Coupang, a Seoul-based digital retailer, has entered the Chinese market by launching an office in Yanji. Korea Bizwire, a reputed Korean newspaper firm, noted that the digital retailer hired a huge number of 230 local Chinese employees to diversify its office culture. Coupang had first launched its international store in the US, and China is the second market it tapped recently. As per a report from Statistics Korea, items having the tag ‘Made in China’ accounted for 63.6% of direct purchases from international online outlets, as South Korean consumers bought them frequently last year.
