Ajinomoto, a Japan-based food and biotechnology coalition, has signed a strategic partnership deal with SuperMeat, an Israeli cell-cultured meat firm. These partners will establish a global supply chain network for the cell-cultured meat industry. The Japanese conglomerate will also invest in the Israeli firm and lend its R&D technology, fermentation and biotech expertise to SuperMeat. The alliance further highlights the strengthening interest of the Japanese food industry in cell-cultured meat production, as consumers are demanding cell-cultured meat. Advanced and future food sources, like cultivated meat, seem to hold greater importance for countries with limited internal agriculture, including Singapore and Israel.
