Vertical farming has gained a lot of traction in economies with unfavourable climate conditions for farming. Many vertical farms have launched everywhere, including Netherlands, Singapore and Pennsylvania, to grow crops on top of each other instead of the conventional ways. The world’s biggest vertical farm, spanning over 330,000 square feet, has just opened in Dubai. ECO 1, which stands for Emirates Crop One, uses LED lights and precisely measured nutrients solution to grow crops without natural sunlight. The facility has the capability to grow more than two million pounds of leafy greens, including lettuces, arugula, mixed salad greens, and spinach, yearly.
