Royal Papworth Hospital NHS Foundation Trust has collaborated with University of Cambridge to carry out a study for the diagnosis of heart valve disease through an AI-based tool. Mainly, NHS Foundation Trust is focusing on developing such a diagnostic tool that can detect heart disease before the symptoms prevail. The objective of the partnership is to advance the healthcare system by providing the AI-based stethoscope to be used for at-risk patients, thereby reducing the chance of heart failure. The AI stethoscope will be able to analyse heart murmurs to either detect any irregularity or determine if further check-up is needed. The research will help relieve the healthcare system of burden by reducing the number of critically ill patients.
