Panera Bread teamed up with OpenCity, a tech firm offering AI-powered solutions to restaurants, to use its product, Tori, last year. The partner firms have now rolled out a pilot programme to test AI-powered ordering tech that includes voice technology as well. Raj Anbalagan, Panera’s senior VP of digital and technology innovation, shared that through this digitisation programme, Panera would improve 5% to 10% in speed and increase order accuracy. The voice assistant tech would allow associates to focus more on preparing food in less time due to easing off their burden of taking orders.
