The first national-level policy statement for the development of metaverse-related technologies, such as virtual reality (VR), augmented reality (AR), and mixed reality (MR), has been published in China.

On November 2, 2022, the Virtual Reality and Industry Application Integration Development Action Plan (2022–2026) was published. It offers the most complete set of policies for building China’s metaverse to date, including important tasks and development objectives for the years up to 2026. The Action Plan identifies five crucial tasks for the growth of the VR/AR/MR sector over the following five years.
